CCO staff workers Billy Ferrell and Becki Laird minister to students at York College of Pennsylvania. York College is an institution that cares deeply about nourishing the well being of their students. Because the whole person is their aim, they are committed to providing the best possible opportunities for students to grow—even religious programs.

While Becki is Associate Staff with the CCO and works full-time for a printing company in Maryland, and Billy’s full-time position for the CCO is Partnership Coordinator for Central Pennsylvania, both staff members maintain their commitment to serving students in York. Our goal is to work with students and staff to seek ways to reach students who are not currently being reached through established clubs and activities, to act as representatives of the local church, and to enrich the community of York College.

We are currently working in co-operative partnership with the campus chapter of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship to provide community service opportunities in the City of York for York College students through our weekly small group meeting called Justice In Action. It is our prayer to use this group to build relationships with students and engage them in open and honest dialogues about domestic and global justice issues facing the current generation. Our hope is to encourage students to think about these issues with a Biblical worldview and to challenge them to use their faith, intellect, passion, and resources to make a difference in the world.  The group spends time each week in Bible study and discussion focusing on awareness, action and advocacy so that the students might be catalysts for change on campus and in the community.

Justice in Action meets on Tuesdays at 8:00pm in the West Campus Community Center.
